The\npurpose of the survey is to seek students\u2019 views about their wellbeing and\ntheir engagement with school.&nbsp; Students\nin year levels 4 to 12 across the State will be invited to participate in the <em>Wellbeing and Engagement Collection<\/em>. The\ninformation collected will help the education system and broader community to\nsupport young people\u2019s health and wellbeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What is the survey about?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nsurvey asks students about their social and emotional wellbeing; school\nrelationships and engagement and learning in school; and physical health and\nwellbeing and after school activities. Students\u2019 answers will be kept\nconfidential \u2013 no one (including school staff) will use the results to identify\nindividual students. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What is involved in project\nparticipation? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Teachers will arrange for students to undertake the survey during class time. Students will be asked if they would like to participate and will be free to withdraw at any time. <strong><em>If you do not want your child to participate, please contact the school as soon as possible. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Will students\u2019 information be kept confidential? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The department takes measures to ensure students\u2019 personal information\nand their identities remain anonymous when participating in the survey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participating schools with fewer than 5 students undertaking the survey\nwill not receive a school report in order to protect the confidentiality of\nstudents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What will happen if\na student is distressed during or after the survey?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whilst the survey\nquestions are not expected to distress students, the survey includes questions\nthat ask about topics such as students\u2019 happiness and experiences of being\nbullied. Teachers will inform students that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>if they find the survey uncomfortable or distressing, they should leave the survey screen immediately<\/li><li>that it is not compulsory to take part in the survey as a whole, and<\/li><li>students may also skip individual survey questions if they wish.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Students who may\nwant to speak to an adult about concerns or issues and will be supported to do\nso.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Where can I get more\ninformation?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Further information\non the Wellbeing and Engagement Collection can be found at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.education.sa.gov.au\">www.education.sa.gov.au<\/a>\n(search:wec) or can be collected from the school.&nbsp; For questions or concerns, or to view the\nquestions, please email <a href=\"mailto:Education.WECSA@sa.gov.au\">Education.WECSA@sa.gov.au<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Students in our school have been invited to take part in a survey being conducted in Term 1 2020.\u00a0 Key information about the survey can be found below.
