Success through quality teaching and learning

As a large school community, our focus is on providing as many educational opportunities for our students as possible. Our aim is to help young people take control of their lives in ways that will benefit the democratic society in which we live, and bring personal reward and satisfaction to themselves. We do this in partnership with the wider community and with you as parents. We encourage our students to take responsibility, relate respectfully, embrace diversity and actively engage with the curriculum framework and both the school and broader community.

Host Families Needed

We are in need of families to host students from Osaki High School, Tokyo, Japan in Week 1 and 2, Term 3. We'll have 17 students aged around 14-16 years old, each needing a separate home stay.

If you've ever wanted to bring a piece of the world into your home, build life-long friendships, and share a little bit of Australia, here's your chance!

If you are interested or would like to know more, please speak to Bob Powell or Lynn McKenzie in the Resource Centre, or e-mail at

A Day in the Life: SSOs at The Heights School

A few of our staff members were recently featured in a DECD Webisode focusing on School Services Officers.

"A Day in the Life: SSOs showcases some of the many roles held by school support staff in DECD as they go about their work on a 'typical day' at the school."

Malaysian Exchange 2014

To all students in Year 7 – 11:
The Heights School will be sending a group of students to our sister school in Penang, Malaysia in the July school holidays next year, as a return visit following another successful visit from Jit Sin High School earlier this year. The group will enjoy sightseeing and shopping, experiencing Malaysian school life and activities, and will be staying with host families from the school. This program is open to any student who will be in Year 8 – 12 in 2014.

So, do you…
- Like to travel, or would like to travel overseas?
- Like making new friends?
- Like sharing your culture and lifestyle?
- Want to experience a new country, a new culture, new food, new people?
- Want to represent the school internationally?

If this sounds like you, and you are interested in taking part in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, please collect an Expression of Interest form from Mr Powell in the Resource Centre. This form just states that you are interested in joining the trip, and will help me with planning numbers. More detailed information will be provided to students who have returned the Expression of Interest form later this term.

The Expression of Interest form needs to be returned by September 20th.
