Volunteer Partnership Program

Volunteers are an integral part of The Heights School. Studies show that volunteering can have a positive impact on your child’s learning, attendance and attitude, while showing that you are directly interested in their school and education. Being a volunteer provides an opportunity to build a closer connection to our school community

We are grateful for our outstanding volunteers. Their contributions make a tremendous difference to our students and school whilst also providing a wonderful platform for parents, caregivers, and staff to connect.

We understand the pressures of everyday living and therefore cherish any involvement no matter how small. Every little bit makes a difference.

How can you help?

Our beautiful kitchen garden is maintained by our resident garden specialist. Volunteers are needed to assist students with their cooking skills and learning about the variety of plants we cultivate.

Our Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden hold markets throughout the year selling goodies made with school grown produce and plants. Help prepare for these stalls by baking with staff in our kitchen or cultivating plants with our garden specialist.

Volunteer Application Process

If you are interested in becoming a valued school volunteer please complete and provide our Community Liaison with the following documents:

By law, people volunteering with children in South Australia must have a current Working With Children Check. This is an online application with the Department for Human Services Screening Unit (DHS) and can be initiated by our Community Liaison if you don’t have one by completing our permission to initiate form.

Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education and Care

To volunteer in education mandatory notification training is required. The course is called Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education and Care (RRHAN-EC) and as a volunteer you are required to complete the Fundamentals course.

This free training is available through Plink an online learning management system used within the Department for Education South Australia. Further information about how to create a Plink account and complete this course is available on the Department of Education Website.

General Volunteer Induction Certificate

This is also a course provided in Plink that covers various topics such as policies, work health and safety responsibilities.

Once the required documents are received, our Community Liaison Officer, Gjuzide Apat, will contact you to book an onsite induction to finalise the application process.
