Celebration in the Courtyard – Parents information

The Heights SchoolNews & Events

CELEBRATION IN THE COURTYARD – TUESDAY 11 DECEMBER 2018, 4.30 – 7.30PM

The Heights School students and staff would like to invite all families to attend the Celebration in the Courtyard end of year event on Tuesday 11th December, from 4.30pm – 7.30pm. Our theme this year is “Broadway Musicals”, students and staff have been working hard to perfect their musical items to entertain you on the night.

Celebration in the Courtyard will be held in the school “Courtyard”, which is the
covered outdoor area between the Admin building and the Primary Years building, seating will be provided for families in this area. There are toilets close by as well.

Food will be available to purchase from 4.30pm. The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden will also have a stall selling plants and goodies from the kitchen and garden. Programs are being sent home with more details.

At 5.30pm Children need to go to their classroom. Year 6 students meet their teacher in the Primary upstairs break out area. Rolls will be taken by the teachers and parents are not permitted in classrooms for the duration of the concert.

Parents are to be seated in the Courtyard ready for the Principal’s Welcome and Volunteer of the Year Award presentation at 5.45pm.

The performance will begin 6.00pm.

Children can be collected by one parent/caregiver from classrooms at the end of the performance at approximately 7.15pm. 601 and 603 can be collected from Primary upstairs break out area and 602 from the library. As all students are all in the finale they will be required to stay until the end.

Only staff and performing children are allowed upstairs. The audience needs to stay in the courtyard on the other side of the bunting. Please do not go on the balcony, behind the bunting or on any stairs. This is to keep our children safe as they negotiate balconies and stairs on their way to and from the stage for their performance. The balconies around the Courtyard will also be used as part of the performance so we need to keep this area clear please.

We hope you enjoy the show!

We would like to wish all families a safe and happy holiday.

Is your son or daughter gifted?

The Ignite Program is a selective entry program for gifted students entering Year 8 at The Heights School. Within the Ignite program there are opportunities for students to be accelerated, and participate in a range of enrichment activities to extend and stimulate their adept minds. They study, and form friendships with other like-minded peers, in a caring and nurturing environment.

We continue to be one of the leading schools across the Northern Region, with outstanding SACE results. In 2016 our students achieved the highest SACE scores across the Northern Region, and we continued these great results last year. In 2017, 20% of our Stage 2 students received an ATAR score of over 80. 11% of these students scored above 90, with our highest achieving an ATAR score of 98.8.
If you believe your child would thrive and benefit from the Ignite program, please complete an expression of interest form for your child to sit the ACER test conducted at The Heights School.

The assessment day is Saturday 23rd February 2019.

Expression of Interest Forms are now available online via the following link: http://www.theheights.sa.edu.au/index.php/programs/ignite

Additional enquiries can be directed to Michelle Crush (Ignite Services) at The Heights School on 82636244
or via email: Michelle.Crush23@schools.sa.edu.au

Please note that students can only sit the test once.
If a student sits for the assessment then he/she cannot re-sit the test the following year so we strongly recommend only sitting the test as a Year 7 student.
